Streamlining Our Homes
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
I have shared my focus on becoming a new creation and organizing my life so that I have more time for the important things (serving God, my family, etc.). Organization has helped me to spend less time searching for items, less money buying doubles, and less energy in the emotional tangle of disorganization.
I remember the days of being crippled by my hopelessness. I remember the tears that went with the knowledge that I didn’t even know where to start. I remember thinking how can I clean when I don’t even have places to put things away? Frustrated and ashamed, I tried denial, ignoring the mess at my home and going out to avoid it. This strategy did not work as the circus was still there upon my return and the things I bought to get my mind off my situation now added to the problem. I felt overwhelmed and ashamed. If I looked at how much I needed to do, I could not breathe. I was drowning in stuff, and I felt so alone.
Maybe this is you. Maybe you need just a little encouragement to let go of some earthly treasures and focus on some heavenly ones. When debating what to get rid of, ask yourself do you really love this item? Does it improve your life or the lives of your family? Does it have a place to go? If you answered no to any of these questions, let it go. You can do this. You can become a new creation and live the life God intended you to live!
Below you will find links to streamlining some common areas. I pray they help you in your journey to becoming a new creation.
